About Hunts Ltd Your Local Storage Facility in Buckden, Cambridgeshire

Hunts Ltd was set up in 1997 by John Brown, who had spent much of his working life in the equipment rental and self-storage industry. John was a true character, hardworking, inventive, and passionate about building honest, practical businesses that served his community.

In 2007, his grandson Iain Rae took over Hunts Ltd, which already had an excellent reputation for being reliable and trustworthy. Since then, Iain has continued to grow the business steadily while maintaining the same family values that John built it on.

Today, Iain manages the company together with his close friends and long-time colleagues Anthony Philcox and Francis Freeman. Together, they take pride in running a friendly, family-led storage business that offers secure, flexible, and affordable self storage in Buckden, Cambridgeshire, always putting customers first.

We provide commercial and domestic storage solutions tailored to your needs. Our secure steel storage units are located within a fully fenced compound, protected by an electric main gate programmed with your personal access code for easy entry and exit. The entire site is monitored by 24-hour CCTV surveillance, ensuring complete peace of mind. Spacious 15-foot-wide driveways allow easy access for large vehicles, including oversized four-wheel, two-axle tail-lift vans and lorries. All units are positioned on hardstanding, ground-level plots, offering convenient door-to-door loading and unloading for your vehicle.

  • Grade 1 Units: are modern, have freshly-maintained and clean interiors making them particularly suitable for household or office items.
  • Grade 2 Units: are sound, older units more suited for the storage of items of industrial equipment, tradesmen’s tools and materials.

Contract & Invoicing Terms

Storage units are charged at a net monthly rate, with hire fees payable one month in advance of each rental period.
We kindly ask for seven days’ notice before ending your rental agreement.

  • If you’ve paid for a full month in advance and choose to end your hire early, you’ll receive a refund for the unused time, minus the final week.
  • If you have not paid in advance and end your hire without giving seven days’ notice, charges will apply up to your termination date plus an additional seven days.
We accept payment by cash, cheque, standing order, credit or debit card, or through our electronic invoice system — simply click the “Pay Now” button to complete your payment.

Deposits

A security deposit equal to one month’s hire is required for all storage units. This deposit is fully refundable at the end of your hire period, provided the unit is left in an acceptable condition. The condition of the unit will be confirmed by a member of the Hunts Ltd team during inspection. If you’d like to reserve a unit in advance, but aren’t ready to start using it yet, we can hold it for you with a deposit equal to half a month’s hire. This will secure the unit for up to one month, and we’re happy to be flexible on this period by prior arrangement.

Padlocks

Please check with Reception before purchasing to ensure you select the correct lock for your unit:

  • Grade 1 units require a shutter padlock with a straight shackle, where the shackle pin and key are positioned on the same end. A suitable padlock can be purchased directly from Hunts Ltd for £43 (including VAT).
  • Grade 2 units come with an integral lock and key, while others will require a padlock of any standard type.

How to get here

If you’re travelling north on the A1 from St Neots towards Peterborough, you will reach the Buckden roundabout. Stay on the northbound A1 and keep in the left lane as you exit the roundabout. Approximately 50 meters north of the roundabout, take the left slip road to enter the industrial yard. Please note: Access is only available from the northbound carriageway of the A1.
